About the Project and the Exhibition:

This exchange project celebrates the power of printmaking as a bridge between communities, cultures, and seasons of hope. Building upon a series of “Cross Border Manifestations” Xmas Card Printmaking Workshops, this exhibition brings together prints and shared blessings gathered across two cities.

At its heart, this initiative is about connecting people through wishes—manifested in multiple forms of print. From Sheffield to Kuala Lumpur, artists and participants have exchanged sentiments of goodwill, transforming them into tangible artworks. In the past week, artists from Lostgens’ and C & G Artpartment visited the Alliance of Chin Refugees Learning Center, conducting six days of Christmas card printmaking workshops with more than 200 students. Later, public workshops at Lostgens’ invited the wider community to join in this creative exchange.

Carrying the spirit of renewal, C & G brought to Kuala Lumpur Lunar New Year blessings collected earlier in Sheffield, originally hung on “New Year Wishing Trees” that were upcycled from Sheffield community’s Christmas trees. These new year wishes were transformed as stamps for the current Christmas card workshops—inviting participants to combine blessings from strangers across continents in their own creations.

A printed fabric featuring designs made by participants
A Christmas tree adorned with handmade cards
Photos and videos documenting the creative process
A woodblock stencil titled “God of Popularity,” reflecting on an old motto: “Knowing people is better than being literate.” Visitors are not just observers, but are warmly invited to create their own prints on-site using stamps, lino templates, or stencils, adding their voices to this evolving tapestry of wishes.

During this exchange in Kuala Lumpur, C & G also visited residents at Valley of Hope, a former leprosy settlement, and learned about their creative artworks. Their recent series of Lunar New Year woodblock prints will travel to Sheffield to be exhibited and shared during the Lunar New Year celebrations in 2026. Through these acts of making and sharing, Impressions Across Borders with Hope reminds us that art is more than an object — it is a gesture of connection, a seed of hope, and a collective celebration of possibility.

種 ．願 藝術展覽 吉隆坡錫菲版畫藝術交流計劃

關於本計劃與展覽:

這交流計劃旨在展現，以版畫連結不同社群、文化的力量。展覽延續“眾 ．願 ” 聖誕咭 版畫工作坊，匯集兩座城市的版畫作品及眾人的願望和祝福。 計劃透過祝願連結社群，並以多種版畫形式把祝願呈現。從錫菲到吉隆坡，藝術家與參與者交流，並將這些心意轉化為具體的藝術創作。在過去一週，來自 Lostgens’ 與 C & G 藝術單位的藝術家於Alliance of Chin Refugees Learning Center，舉辦為期六天的聖誕卡版畫工作坊，參與學生超過 200 人。隨後，Lostgens’ 也舉辦了一整天工作坊，邀請更多公眾加入這場創意交流。

一元復始，萬象更新，C & G 在年初時於錫菲把社區的聖誕樹升級再造成為「新年許願樹」，在農曆年慶祝活動時，邀請公眾參與者把農曆新年願望掛上。今趟交流活動中，他們精選了一些早前在錫菲收集的農曆年願望製作為印章，把願望帶到吉隆坡，供聖誕卡工作坊的參與者使用，讓大家在創作中融合來自陌生人的跨國祝福。

是次展覽包括：

名為 《人緣神》 的版畫模板，呼應一句舊格言：「識人好過識字。」

觀眾不僅是旁觀者，更是參與者。我們誠摯邀請大家在現場使用印章、各式模板，創作屬於自己的賀卡，把眾人的願望連結，一起 「種 願」。 在吉隆坡交流期間，C & G 亦拜訪了「希望之谷」（前痲瘋病人聚居地）的畫家居民，參觀他們的版畫工作室，並邀請畫家居民把最新的農曆年木刻版畫，於2026年農曆新年期間帶去錫菲展出，與當地觀眾分享。 透過這些創作與分享的行動，“種 ．願” 展現了藝術不僅是一件物品，更是一種連結的姿態、一顆希望的種子。
